Day Two Palm Springs - Scottsdale

Click for Palm Springs, California Forecast

Palm SpringsDue to the high night-time temperatures, we couldn't sleep very well and, after a swim in the pool at 5 a.m., we left Palm Springs, passing the famous wind machines and on the Interstate 10.

The long straight road may not be to everyone's taste but we found it fascinating. Being used to driving very fast on German Autobahns, we couldn't believe the incredibly slow speed limits on the Interstate - but we kept to them - you can enjoy the scenery better that way. We arrived in Blythe for a late breakfast before crossing the State line into Arizona. From there on, the Interstate got straighter and the temperatures got higher.

Storm in PhoenixWe stayed in Scottsdale which is only one of 6 cities that make up the 5th largest community in the United States. At Champlin Fighter MuseumThe others are Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa, Peoria and Glendale. In the evening we experienced our first thunderstorm in the desert - unbelievable!!

My Places of Interest: We went to the Champlin Fighter Museum in Mesa and would like to thank the very helpful and knowledge staff for making it a great place to visit.
