Again a long day's travelling through the corn fields of Washington State. We left Spokane towards Odessa and then turned north onto Highway 283 which runs past Soap Lake (try the water), Leonore Lake, past the incredible Dry Falls, Banks Lake with Steamboat Rock to the Grand Coulee Dam.
From there we travelled Northwest towards the North Cascades National Park. Unfortunately, the road was still blocked so we stayed the night in Winthrop. Winthrop looks and feels like a film set for a Western.
Being a dead end at this time of year it was very quiet - we were the only guests in the Rio Vista Hotel.
