Day Eleven Dubois - Salt Lake City

Click for Salt Lake City, Utah Forecast

We left Dubois early in the morning as the frost was still covering the grass and drove towards Lander, through the Wind River Indian Reservation. From Lander we drove to South Pass City . TFort Bridgerhe Pioneer Trails went through here in the 1840s and in the 1860s this was Wyoming's largest settlement due to the gold mines. Although commonly known as a ghost town, people still live out here in the middle of nowhere. We joined the I-80 at Rock Springs and followed the Green River to Fort Bridger. Temple in Salt Lake CityWe had expected a typical fort as seen in western films but it is more a collection of whitewashed buildings that made up a military post.

Salt Lake City Salt Lake City Cam is very impressive after the small towns and wilderness. Although only members of the Church of the Latter-Day Saints can visit the Temple, non-Mormons can visit the Visitor Center where they can learn about this religion that dominates Utah. We had the luck to hear the Tabernacle Choir practising.

In the evening we went to the cinema to watch a Kevin Bacon film.
