I have been to the South Rim twice and wasn't really looking forward to going to the Grand Canyon again. The trip to the North Rim is long and, sorry to admit it, boring but the North Rim is worth it.

The Rim is not visited by the incredible amount of visitors as the South Rim so it is very pleasant. The views are just as incredible - if not better - as from the other side. My favourite feature, Shivas Temple, is nearer and more impressive.

Unfortunately, you have to drive the same way back through the Arizona Strip as the North Rim is a dead-end. We drove from Fredonia along the AZ389 passing the Pipe Springs National Monument to St. George. That evening there were very spectacular thunderstorms.
