The next morning we drove directly to Cody and the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. The center is a combination of 4 museums - the Cody Firearms Museum (guns, guns and more guns), The Whitney Gallery of Western Art (an impressive collection), The Plains Indian Museum (explores the Plains Indian culture) and the Buffalo Bill Museum (the history of the legendary man). There is so much to see and the entry price is valid for 2 days. However, we didn't have time to do the place justice but could learn a lot about the Wild West.

Leaving Cody, we followed the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway back up to Cooke City. On the way we crossed the highest bridge in Wyoming which spans the Sunlight Gorge. Back in Yellowstone N.P. we drove to the parking area on Mt. Washburn and walked a short distance up the mountain. Again no sign of animals although we did see some hawks.

We had planned to spend the night in West Yellowstone and visit the Grizzly Center the next day - finally bears!! - but all the hotels were fully booked so we had to drive further. We weren't the only ones as more and more cars joined us on the search for a room. We finally decided to change plans completely and drove to Rexburg.
