Day Two Virginia City - Wells

Click for Wells, Nevada Forecast

Again we were up early in the morning and went down to the cemetery to see the sunrise. The town was awash with yellow sunlight. Virginia City As most of the towns shops and museums open at 10 a.m. we drove down to Reno. We only came to get an impression of the "Biggest Little City of the World" before returning to Virginia City. In daylight, the town became very commercial and there was no trace of the ghosts from the evening before. Despite this, Virginia City has won a special place in my heart. White King, Elko

At noon we then headed off towards Interstate 80 and the long journey to Wells, near the stateline to Utah in the west. The scenery is surely not everyone's taste but the wildness of Northern Nevada is still incredible. We passed through the towns - Fernley, Lovelock (luscious green alfalfa fields in the desert), Winnemucca, Golconda, Battle Mountain, Carlin, Elko (go and see The White King - a huge polar bear that decorates the front of the Commercial Hotel) , Deeth - arriving in Wells in the dark. Wells is the crossroads of the I-80 and the 93 and seems to be a meeting place for trucks.
