Day Eight Monument Valley - Moab

Click for Monument Valley, Utah Forecast

We decided to take a short cut northwards to Natural Bridges National Monument. We took the Mogi Dugway instead of the longer route via Bluff. There is a warning on the road that it is narrow and unpaved but looking at the cliffwall infront of us, we couldn't even see where the road could possibly be. The actual road up the cliff face is unpaved, narrow and one switchback after another - definitely not for the faint-hearted.

At the top we awarded by the magnificent view. In this remote place we were approached directly by a Navajo Indian, selling jewellery. And it started to snow!!!

We arrived at Natural Bridges N.M. during a snowstorm which meant that the natural bridges were very difficult to see.

From there we drove northwards to Moab which has become a very popular centre of extreme sports but also an excellent stopping off place for Canyonlands and Arches National Parks.

We went up to the Island in the Sky part of Canyonlands N.P. First we drove to Upheaval Dome then to Grand View Point Overlook. Honestly I really didn't expect much of Canyonlands but the view from this Overlook is fantastic. You can see forever and the landscape is incredible. We then drove to Dead Horse Point Overlook in Dead Horse Point State Park to watch the sunset.
